Careful cleaning for accessible solar arrays

Solar panels collect dust, pollen, bird deposits and debris. Browns uses purified water and suitable equipment where panels can be reached safely and without treating the roof as an ordinary working surface.

Preserving the condition of solar installations makes good sense, but the work must be carried out safely. Regular cleaning is preferable to allowing deposits to build up and stubborn lichen to become established on the surface. Because access, tree cover, birds and local conditions vary, Browns will recommend a sensible interval after assessing the array; for many properties, an annual clean is a practical starting point.

This service includes

  • Safely accessible solar panels
  • Purified-water cleaning alone where possible
  • Safety assessment of the work
  • Care around roof finishes and surrounding property
  • Combination with window or roof-glass cleaning where practical

Domestic solar arrays in rural settings

From village homes to country properties

East Sussex properties and solar panels

Domestic solar arrays are common on newer homes, converted barns, extensions and rural outbuildings across East Sussex. Roof pitch, panel position, tree cover, birds and the ground below affect both soiling and access, which is why photographs and a clear view of the elevation are useful before quoting.

Questions about solar-panel cleaning

Can every roof-mounted array be cleaned?

No. The height, pitch, surrounding access and position of the array determine whether it can be reached safely and effectively.

Do you use detergents?

Purified water is the preferred approach because it avoids detergent residue. Panel condition, access and any relevant manufacturer guidance are considered before cleaning.

Can photographs be used for an initial quotation?

Yes. Include the full elevation, roof height, panel position and the ground immediately below the array.

Can solar panels be cleaned with the windows?

Often, where access permits. The two services should still be assessed and priced according to the work involved.
