The right approach for your home

East Sussex brings together historic cottages, painted timber frames, modern family houses and large architectural glazing. We assess the windows, their condition and the access before choosing how to clean them.

Browns combines traditional window-cleaning experience with modern purified-water equipment. We plan the service with you, taking care around gardens, older glazing and the character of your property.

At the conclusion of every job, we inspect our work, wipe the sills and correct anything we may have missed.

Glass, frames and sills

We clean the whole window, including its frames, doors and sills. Let us know if you also need interior glass cleaned, and we will agree the access and arrangements with you.

Purified-water pole cleaning and traditional hand cleaning both have a place. We adjust the method and brushes to the glazing and frames, rather than treating every home in the same way. Traditional cleaning is available on request where safe.

Regular visits help keep your windows cared for through pollen, agricultural dust and wet weather. We will plan a schedule that suits your property.

Period character and modern glass

Older glazing and painted frames

Lead lights, small Georgian panes and painted wooden frames need thoughtful handling. Tell us about loose paint, fragile panes or previous concerns so we can assess the condition before work begins.

Our work is cleaning. Repairs, restoration and repainting are separate tasks; we can discuss any limitations we notice.

Contemporary family homes

Large windows, folding doors and modern double or triple glazing have different access and cleaning needs. Purified water allows us to rinse away loosened dirt without leaving detergent residue.

We take account of the layout, frame material and safe reach of the equipment when planning the work.

Questions about Browns window cleaning services

How often should I have my windows cleaned?

If you want the best shine, maintained at all times, then definitely monthly. If you are happy with a reasonable accumulation of dirt on the glass then every other month is fine.

Monthly window cleaning is keeping and maintaining the perfect shine. Less frequent cleaning involves cleaning a visible accumulation from the glass.

Do you clean the inside of windows?

Yes. Interior window cleaning can be included by arrangement, using genuine buckets and squeegees.

Do you ever use traditional methods?

Yes, where traditional cleaning is the better and safer choice, or for close-hand work such as interior glass cleaning. You may also request it if you prefer.

Purified-water pole system cleaning is our preference because it is safer, but it is also a genuinely better way to clean your windows. It leaves a longer lasting shine – as well as being kinder to the fabric of your property.

Will your cleaning methods damage my leaded lights or wooden frames?

No. We use low-pressure, purified water and flocked soft-bristle brushes specifically designed for more delicate glazing. There is a technique to their use, which we are very experienced in. We never use abrasive chemicals or high-pressure jets on historic properties.

How often should I have my gutters cleared?

Water can seriously damage a building, and drainage from the roofline is a critical run-off for the entire footprint of your property.

We strongly recommend clearing gutters at least once a year. If you live near mature trees, twice a year (typically late spring and late autumn) is advised to prevent blockages.

Do I need to be at home when Browns visit?

No, you do not need to be home. As long as we have access to the exterior of the property we can complete the work – we bring everything with us. We will send you a notification once the job is complete and you can pay at your convenience.

Manual bank transfer is fine, and GoCardless is a simple, secure payment method you will find really convenient.
